CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Typhlosion fans its body's flames until it creates a shimmering cloud of heat around itself. It uses this to hide its movements before launching an explosive attack. When angry, its temperature becomes high enough to ignite whatever it touches. Its blazing fur also contributes to a secret move: rubbing it produces a powerful blast. The Pokédex therefore describes a fighter that prepares the ground with heat before striking.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Y credits Typhlosion with an explosion produced by rubbing its blazing fur. Pokémon Omega Ruby describes the curtain of heat behind which it hides. Its visual defense and explosive attack thus rely on distinct uses of the same heat.
