CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Swalot first attacks prey with highly toxic liquid sprayed from its body's pores. Once the prey weakens, it swallows it in one gulp. It has no teeth and engulfs whatever fits its vast mouth without chewing. Its digestive juices are described as able to dissolve almost anything. Its mouth's size and stomach's power thus extend a two-stage hunting method: poison, then swallow.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sapphire compares Swalot's mouth opening with the space needed to fit a car tire inside. Pokémon Emerald gives it a surprising limit: its digestive fluid can dissolve almost anything except its own stomach.
