The Pokémon’s story

Kommo-o carries scales useful both for protection and striking. It rattles those on its tail before an enemy and faces only opponents that do not retreat. Its steel-scaled fists then deliver powerful uppercuts. In antiquity, humans supposedly made weapons and armor from these coverings; murals preserve traces of this. The Pokédex thus connects its present fighting with an old warrior reputation.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword describes Kommo-o rattling its tail to select an opponent that withstands intimidation. Pokémon Shield mentions murals of warriors equipped with its scales. The same material therefore serves the Pokémon's challenge and ancient human objects.
