CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Slowpoke spends much of its time motionless at the water’s edge. It dips the tip of its tail into the current, where a sweet substance attracts prey. This fishing seems as slow as its temperament, yet follows a specific habit. Its tail can detach on its own and regrow painlessly, explaining why it goes on living as if nothing had happened. The Pokédex thus portrays a mixture of patience, slowness and surprising regenerative ability.

A detail worth noticing

In Alola, a traditional recipe uses Slowpoke tails: they are dried, then boiled in salt water. Pokémon Moon reports this culinary use without confusing it with an attack. The detail is a reminder that some Pokédex entries also describe the habits of people in the Pokémon world.
