CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Klawf lives on steep cliffs where it watches for prey. It can hang upside down, then pounce at the right moment. This wait has a limit, however: blood rushes to its head if it stays in that position too long. In battle, it also moves sideways to dodge before targeting a weak point with its claws. The Pokédex describes a predator that must balance the surprise of its ambush with the constraints of its own body.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet explains why Klawf cannot remain hanging upside down indefinitely: blood flows toward its head. Pokémon Violet describes its tactic once an opponent is close, a sideways movement followed by a claw strike at a vulnerable area.
