CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Vanillite seeks snow to sleep in and avoids overly warm regions, where its icy body slowly melts. It blows very cold air to improve its surroundings and protect itself. Legends say it was born from an icicle that did not want to disappear in the sun. Yet its coolness makes it a valued household companion in warm regions, provided its needs are preserved. The Pokédex thus contrasts its usefulness to humans with its vulnerability to heat.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun describes Vanillite slowly melting in a warm place. Pokémon Moon notes that people appreciate its coolness in those same regions. This human comfort is therefore not necessarily compatible with the Pokémon's well-being without a suitably cold environment.
