CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Carkol forms coal inside its body. In the past, the pieces it dropped served as fuel for Galar's inhabitants. It moves by rapidly rotating its legs and can reach surprising speed. The flames it breathes are also very hot. The Pokédex thus combines three manifestations of its energy: coal collected by humans, its body's movement, and fire projected when it takes action.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield gives Carkol a speed exceeding 18 miles per hour, about 29 km/h, and flames above 1,800 °F, about 982 °C. Pokémon Sword recalls that coal shed from its body once served as fuel in Galar.

Description from the source

Due to the coal tar created inside it, the heap of coal on Carkol’s back never falls apart, even when the Pokémon rolls around at high speeds.
