CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Deino cannot see its surroundings. To understand them, it moves, bites and chews whatever it encounters, even living beings. This method leaves it with many wounds and makes approaching it delicate. Yet it remembers the smell of its favourite foods. The Pokédex describes a young Pokémon learning the world through its mouth and collisions, unable to navigate with its eyes.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon White explains that Deino becomes covered in injuries while exploring without sight. Pokémon Sword states that it remembers the smell of food it likes. Its olfactory memory therefore gives it a more reliable landmark than bites delivered at random.
