CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Bouffalant lives in herds and readily charges anything that moves. Its thick coat cushions the impact of headbutts capable of destroying a vehicle. The size of its mane indicates its rank among the group’s other members. The Pokédex also relates that an individual betraying the herd may lose this mane, without explaining how. Its physical strength is therefore inseparable from collective life, in which appearance itself signals position and belonging.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Shield places Bouffalant herds at around twenty individuals and reports mane loss after betrayal for an unknown reason. Pokémon Sword connects the volume of this mane with social rank. Its coat is therefore also an indicator of group life.
