CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Beartic travels the northern seas looking for prey. It freezes its own breath to form icy fangs and claws, sometimes harder than steel. Although it swims easily, it can also create an island by freezing seawater to rest when tired. The Pokédex presents a hunter able to turn cold into both a weapon and a refuge during the same journey.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield says Beartic improvises an iceberg to rest on in the open sea. Pokémon Sword describes icy fangs harder than steel. Its frozen breath thus meets two very different needs: catching food and conserving strength.
