CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Kyurem produces cold so intense that its own breath has ended up freezing its body. The Pokédex also describes it as incomplete: it awaits a hero able to revive this frozen body by sharing ideals and truth with it. Beneath the ice it created itself remains immense power, described as greater than that of Reshiram and Zekrom. Its waiting and its cold sketch the portrait of a dragon still unfinished.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield gives a possible reason for Kyurem freezing itself with its own breath: it may thereby have stabilised its cellular structure. This detail changes the interpretation of its icy shell, which might also help hold its body together. The Pokédex uses cautious wording and does not present this explanation as an absolute certainty.
