CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Venipede explores its surroundings with antennae on its head and tail. If it detects prey, it leaps quickly and bites with extremely venomous fangs. This defense can even paralyze large bird Pokémon that hunt it. The Pokédex also describes violent encounters with Sizzlipede, a related species. Its small body thus combines surveillance, rapid attack and rivalries extending beyond the search for food.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Black states that Venipede's venom can paralyze large predatory birds. Pokémon Sword describes its conflicts with Sizzlipede despite the species' closeness. Its fangs therefore protect against hunters and serve in quarrels between similar Pokémon.
