CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Weedle hides in woods and tall grass, where it may eat its own weight in leaves each day. Its sense of smell helps it recognise its favourites among many others. The stinger on its head contains dangerous venom, and its body colours warn enemies not to approach. The Pokédex therefore presents a small woodland inhabitant whose feeding and defence rely on distinct senses and signals.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Omega Ruby credits Weedle with a sense of smell precise enough to distinguish its favourite leaves among many others. Pokémon X states that its stinger is around five centimetres long. For a small Pokémon, this defence occupies a remarkable amount of space.
