CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Poliwhirl can now live on land but often returns to hunt in waters rich in prey. Its skin must stay moist: when it dries, its condition worsens. To escape an enemy trying to grab it, it secretes slippery mucus. The spiral on its belly can also put those who stare at it to sleep. The Pokédex shows a species between two environments, equipped with defenses as effective in the water as on the riverbank.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword reports that people have children look at Poliwhirl's spiral to help them fall asleep. Pokémon Ultra Moon nevertheless reminds us that dry skin quickly harms it. Its almost domestic talent therefore does not remove the need to provide a humid environment.
