CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Hippowdon stores sand inside its body and expels it through pores in its skin to raise great storms. It opens its jaws wide to intimidate a rival and quickly becomes angry when provoked. Yet it accepts help from Dwebble, which remove pebbles blocking its openings. The Pokédex thus connects power capable of reshaping the desert air with a small cleaning partnership on which it depends.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword describes Dwebble clearing stones caught in Hippowdon's pores. Pokémon Shield connects those same openings with the sandstorms it raises. The channels used for its attack therefore also need maintenance provided by other Pokémon.
