The role of this Energy

Twin Energy normally provides two Colorless Energy to its bearer. This quantity drops to one if the bearer is a Pokémon V or Pokémon-GX. The text does not remove the card or change its type: it simply reduces the contribution available to those two categories. To prepare an attack, the player must therefore read the Pokémon's category before counting paid symbols. The same Energy has different value depending on the fighter carrying it.

A detail worth noticing

Two Twin Energy printings state the same exception for Pokémon V and Pokémon-GX. On those bearers, it provides one Colorless Energy; on others, two. Its name alone therefore does not determine how many attack symbols it can pay.
