CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Togepi turns happy emotions into a resource. The compassion and joy it receives fuel its energy; it then stores this happiness in its shell to share. Its smile takes on another meaning in light of this story. Beneath the appearance of a little moving egg, it embodies an exchange in which care given can return to others.

A detail worth noticing

A proverb reported in Pokémon Silver promises happiness to anyone who can make a sleeping Togepi stand up. Here the Pokédex conveys a tradition of the Pokémon world, rather than a proven property of its shell or an evolution technique.
