CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Veluza sheds pieces of flesh it does not need. This sharpens its mind and strengthens its psychic powers; it also increases agility before rushing prey. Its regenerative ability compensates for the lost material. The Pokédex thus describes a hunting method in which Veluza deliberately alters its own body before attacking. What it discards does not necessarily represent lasting injury because its flesh can regrow.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Scarlet notes that flesh discarded by Veluza has a mild, appreciated flavor. Pokémon Violet explains why it can lose flesh before hunting: it regenerates tissue efficiently and becomes faster when lighter.
