CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Braixen keeps a branch planted in its tail. When it takes the branch and rubs it against its fur, it catches fire. Braixen can then use it in battle. The Pokédex also gives it a less offensive use: waving this burning stick communicates with its kind. The same object therefore becomes both weapon and signal. Fire does not appear without a preparatory gesture; it arises from friction between branch and fur.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Braixen's branch ignites through friction when it takes it from its tail and rubs it against its fur. Pokémon Y notes that it can wave this flaming stick to communicate with other Braixen; Pokémon X mentions its use in battle.
