CARDEX BACKGROUND
The story behind this Trainer card
Surfer begins by switching your Active Pokémon with a Benched member. If this switch happens, you then draw until you have five cards in hand. The movement therefore prepares both a new presence in battle and a possible resource top-up. The draw is not separate from the maneuver: without a successful switch, the second part is not granted. Cards already in hand remain included in the five-card limit.

Surfer does not give five new cards after switching. It fills the hand to five cards in total. This draw remains conditional: the text connects it with a successful switch between your Active Pokémon and one of your Benched Pokémon.
