CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Overqwil's long spikes resemble spears. Its savage temperament and these weapons earned it an unsettling nickname in Hisui's Pokédex: the fiend of the sea. It feeds by sucking in poison, a resource quite different from the prey one might imagine for a fish. Its spiny appearance defines its reputation while recalling its way of life. The entry describes this species from Hisui rather than just any Qwilfish variant.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
The Pokémon Legends: Arceus entry links Overqwil's 'fiend of the sea' nickname to its spear-shaped spikes and violent nature. It adds a specific feeding habit: this Pokémon sucks in poison for nourishment.
