CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Herdier has lived alongside humans for a very long time; cave paintings already depict it. Intelligent and affectionate, it is devoted to a master it respects but refuses orders from someone it considers inferior. Its dark fur gradually becomes flexible, dense protection capable of repelling fangs. The Pokédex thus presents an ancient companion whose loyalty has conditions and whose body grows tougher with age.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon mentions Herdier in cave paintings, evidence of its old bond with humans within the game world. Pokémon Sword only proposes a theory that it may have been humanity's first partner. The ancient image is described; its primacy remains hypothetical.
