CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Golem lives in mountains and may roll down them, sometimes with others after an earthquake. Residents have dug trenches to divert these descents away from houses. Its rocky armor withstands violent impacts, but moisture causes problems. Once a year it molts: its new casing hardens in the air while the old one becomes humus. The mountain landscape thus bears traces of both its movements and its growth.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Alpha Sapphire reports trenches dug to channel Golem rolling toward villages. Pokémon Moon adds that farmers appreciate the humus produced by their molts. Humans must therefore both protect themselves from the species and use what it leaves behind.
