CARDEX BACKGROUND
For Charmander, emotions have their own light. The flame at the tip of its tail changes with its feelings: it flickers when it is enjoying itself and burns more fiercely when it is angry. Watching this little fire is a way of reading its mood. This warm little figure has a language that its face alone does not always express.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. In Pokémon Yellow, Charmander's flame is also described through sound. Its crackle is so quiet that it takes a peaceful place to hear it. This small atmospheric detail invites us to imagine the Pokémon somewhere other than in the middle of a battle.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
