CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Golduck swims easily through rivers thanks to its long limbs and flexible tail. It can pursue fast fish Pokémon, seize them in the water and return to the bank to eat. The red gem on its forehead has also fuelled human beliefs about its powers, to the point of attracting poachers. The Pokédex thus presents a formidable swimmer whose appearance has inspired as many legends as hunting observations.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon states that Golduck can swim for two days without stopping thanks to its flexible tail. Pokémon Sun reports an old belief: its red gem is said to give psychic powers to whoever holds it, reportedly leading to poaching.
