CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Ducklett readily dives and spends much of its time underwater looking for the peat moss it likes to eat. When an attacker approaches, it shakes its body and releases a mist of water that conceals it long enough to escape. The Pokédex presents a small bird whose diving meets a dietary need, while moisture becomes a defense. Its hiding place is not a fixed shelter: it creates one at the moment of danger.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon White explains that Ducklett sends a mist of water from its body to hide its escape. Pokémon Black notes that it dives to find peat moss. Water thus plays a role both in its food and in how it escapes an attack.
