CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Blitzle readily appears when the sky signals an approaching storm. Its mane catches lightning and stores the electricity it can later release. Yet sparks are more than a defence: their flashes form a language between individuals. By varying their number and rhythm, Blitzle sends signals to its companions. Pokédex entries thus connect stormy weather, the energy stored in its body and a form of communication visible from afar.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Blitzle’s mane shines when it releases a discharge. Pokémon Alpha Sapphire explains that it varies the rhythm and number of these lights to communicate. A series of sparks can therefore carry information, rather than merely signal an approaching electric attack.
