CARDEX BACKGROUND
Runerigus comes to life when an ancient depiction imbued with a powerful curse absorbs a Yamask's soul. Patterns covering its body retain terrifying memories. Touching its shadow-like silhouette exposes one to their vision, according to the Pokédex. Its origin and contact danger therefore meet in these engraved images: they help animate it while transmitting something terrible to those who approach too closely.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Shield warns that touching Runerigus's body makes one experience the frightening memories contained in its patterns. Sword earlier connects its animation with another absorption: a Yamask's soul entering a cursed antique image.
