CARDEX BACKGROUND

The role of this Energy

This Metal Energy provides one unit of Metal Energy. When its bearer is itself Metal type, opposing attacks deal ten less damage after Weakness and Resistance. On a Pokémon of another type, the Energy remains a Metal resource, but its printed shield is ignored. The player must therefore distinguish the constant Energy contribution from conditional protection. A card with this name may have a different rule depending on its edition; this group includes only printings with this type condition.

Background on this Special Energy’s effect; the printed text, edition and finish of each card remain distinct.

A detail worth noticing

The text does not require discarding Metal Energy if the attached Pokémon is not Metal type. It asks only that the ten-damage reduction be ignored. This distinction allows payment of a Metal cost while recognizing that protection is inactive.

Printed card text — German

Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.

Printed card effect

Metall-Energie liefert -Energie. (Zählt nicht als Basis-Energiekarte.)
