CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Zarude lives in groups in the jungle. Its aggressive temperament frightens other Pokémon sharing this environment. Yet its passing can also contribute to forest life: when vines detach from its body, they fertilize the soil and help plants grow. The Pokédex thus brings together two very different effects of its presence. It can keep its neighbors at a distance while leaving behind material useful to the landscape's growth.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Vines shed by Zarude are more than remains of its body. Pokémon Shield says they fertilize the soil and help forest plants grow. Yet Pokémon Sword reminds us that its aggressive nature frightens other jungle Pokémon.
