CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Omanyte swam in ancient seas by churning water with its ten tentacles. Its fossils are now found in regions once covered by ocean. Some shells bear bite marks attributed to Archeops, one of its predators. Recreated from these remains, it can now reappear; the Pokédex even mentions released or escaped individuals. Its modern presence returns a long-extinct species to the water.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun mentions fossil bite marks showing Omanyte was hunted by Archeops. Pokémon Sword reports resurrected specimens that escaped or were released. Fossils therefore tell of an old food chain while recreations raise a present-day problem.
