CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Spearow cannot sustain long flights with its small wings. It therefore travels quickly through its territory at low altitude, searching tall grass for Bug-type Pokémon. Its appetite makes it useful to farmers whose fields are infested. Despite its size, it boldly defends its space, even against a larger opponent. The Pokédex shows a bird poorly suited to high altitude but highly effective on the short trips where it hunts and keeps watch.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Moon says farmers care for Spearow because they eat insects in crops. Pokémon Ultra Sun notes that they sometimes confront larger opponents to protect their territory. Their small size therefore does not prevent them from providing an agricultural service.
