CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Wingull nests on coastal cliffs. Its long wings let it glide over the sea using rising air currents, sometimes without a single wingbeat. From above, it seeks small fish Pokémon, particularly Wishiwashi. A fisher quoted in the Pokédex advises following its flight to locate a good catch. Its path thus tells of the food it seeks as much as the skill with which it uses wind.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield says Wingull can fly without flapping its wings thanks to air currents. Pokémon Moon reports a fisher's advice: follow Wingull to find fish. Its economical flight also makes it an indicator of hunting grounds.
