CARDEX BACKGROUND
The Pokémon’s story
Jolteon reacts sharply to danger. Its fur stands on end as it builds up static electricity, which it can then release in powerful discharges. It is so sensitive that a change of mood can sometimes charge it up. Pokédex entries also describe an internal organ that generates electricity, accompanied by a crackling sound as it exhales. Its fur is therefore more than a recognisable outline: it forms part of an electrical defence whose warning signs should be watched before approaching.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.A detail worth noticing
Pokémon Ultra Moon explains that Jolteon can fire its bristling hairs like needles before releasing an electric shock. This dual use of its fur explains why seeing it stand on end is a warning: the danger is not limited to the electricity that follows.
