CARDEX BACKGROUND
Starmie moves through the sea by spinning its geometric body like a propeller. At its centre, its luminous organ shines in seven colours and seems to exchange mysterious signals. Some entries speak of waves directed towards the night sky; others describe communications whose meaning nobody yet understands. In the waters where it swims, it also takes in plankton. The Pokédex thus allows a very concrete way of life to coexist with the enigma of its shining core.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.Starmie’s core is nicknamed the “gem of the sea”. Pokémon Sun even mentions an illicit trade in jewellery made from this glowing organ. This desire for it gives its brilliance a less wondrous significance: what fascinates observers may also endanger the Pokémon.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
