CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Porygon2 results from updating Porygon with data designed by humans. Its artificial intelligence lets it learn and develop independently, sometimes in directions its creators did not foresee. Some hoped it would help transform other planets, but that project remains distant. It withstands space yet struggles to move in zero gravity. The Pokédex thus shows both the ambitions and limitations of a Pokémon programmed to progress.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon says Porygon2 survives in space but moves poorly in zero gravity. Pokémon Shield says it speaks a mysterious language understood only by its own kind. Its creators gave it autonomy without controlling all its uses or communications.

This upgraded version of Porygon is designed for space exploration. It can't fly, though.

Pokemon Power

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may choose 1 Basic Energy card attached to 1 of your Pokémon and choose an Energy type. Treat that Energy card as that type until the end is your turn. This power can't be used if Porygon2 is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed. If Porygon2 becomes Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed, the Energy card goes back to its original type.
