CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Sawk retreats to the mountains to practice karate day and night. It constantly seeks to become stronger and dislikes interruptions to its exercises. Tying its belt helps it concentrate and strengthens its blows. After intensive training, the edge of its hand becomes so powerful that the Pokédex describes it as capable of splitting the sea. Its strength is therefore presented as the result of determined discipline rather than simply an inborn gift.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Omega Ruby places Sawk's training in the mountains. Alpha Sapphire notes the effect of its belt on concentration. Pokémon Shield goes so far as to compare the power of its hand, after intensive training, to a force capable of splitting the sea.
