CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Silicobra digs into the ground while swallowing sand. It stores it in a pouch near its neck that holds a surprising amount for its size. Facing an opponent, it shoots this sand through its nostrils to obscure their vision. The cloud gives it time to burrow back into the earth and hide. Its reserve is therefore more than a by-product of digging: it forms part of how it escapes danger.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword locates Silicobra's sand reserve in a neck pouch with a capacity exceeding 17 pounds, about 7.7 kg. Pokémon Shield describes the sequence: sand expelled through the nostrils, an opponent blinded, then escape underground.
