Stories claim its sounds curse listeners or that a nighttime visitor takes away whoever opens the door. The Pokédex does not clearly distinguish these stories from observations. Its hunting behavior nevertheless suffices to make such encounters feared.

Pokémon Shield tells of it visiting a door during the new moon but presents this as an unsettling story. Pokémon Y more directly describes how it seizes prey.
