CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Rampardos struck trees with its massive head while pursuing prey. Repeated blows made its skull extremely thick, hard enough to inspire people of old to make helmets from its fossils. The Pokédex also notes that its brain appears smaller than Cranidos's. A theory connects this trait with its disappearance without proving the cause of extinction. Its formidable forehead left traces in ancient stories as well as recovered bones.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Moon reports that a Rampardos restored from a fossil supposedly escaped before destroying a skyscraper with a headbutt. Pokémon Ultra Sun describes the ancient use of its fossil skull for helmets. The hypothesis about its extinction remains presented as a theory.
