CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Cloyster closes its valves around a body difficult to reach. Its shell is extremely tough and opens only to attack. Old injuries heal into projections that become spikes. It can launch volleys of them at an opponent. The Pokédex also recounts its search for Slowpoke tails, which may lead it to crawl onto land. Its sturdy protection therefore hides an active hunter.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Sun explains that Cloyster's spikes appear on healed shell wounds. Pokémon Shield describes its closure as almost impossible to force. Its armor thus preserves traces of past attacks while strengthening future defense.
