CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Helioptile lives in desert regions and draws an essential part of its energy from the sun. The skin folds on either side of its head contain cells that generate electricity in the light. It spreads them to power its electrical abilities, to the point that some entries say it does not need to eat. Yet this production requires quiet: if interrupted, the Pokémon becomes stressed and weakens. Its sunny habitat is therefore as much a shelter as an energy source.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield explains that disturbing Helioptile while it produces electricity stresses it and makes it weaker. Pokémon Y locates the generating cells in the skin folds of its head. Its living “solar panel” therefore also entails a moment of vulnerability.
