CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Carnivine clings to trees in marshes and waits for prey to pass below. Its saliva gives off an appealing scent that brings the prey close enough to grab and bite. The meal can last a long time: the Pokédex estimates that swallowing its catch completely takes a day. Its apparent stillness thus hides a hunt based on patience, fragrance and a trap suspended above damp ground.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Black places Carnivine hanging from trees in marshes. Pokémon X explains that its scented saliva attracts prey and that swallowing can take a whole day. The wait before capture therefore continues into a very slow meal.
