CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Shellos mainly lives near shorelines, where its soft body adapts to the environment. Its color and silhouette vary with the region, habitat, and even available food. It can leave the water for a while but must return before its skin dries out. Under strong pressure or facing danger, it releases sticky purple mucus described as harmless. The Pokédex thus portrays a flexible Pokémon whose visible variations and secretion respond to very different conditions.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Diamond distinguishes two Shellos types within Sinnoh alone. Pokémon Shield specifies that its purple fluid is harmless despite being very sticky. Pokémon Legends: Arceus also notes that it readily approaches people on warm beaches.
