The Pokémon’s story

Bounsweet's fruity scent attracts bird Pokémon that want to eat it. When threatened, it spins the sepals on top of its head to resist, with little success according to the Pokédex. It also secretes sweet sweat during an attack. Far from protecting it, this smell attracts even more enemies. Its defenses and scents thus create a paradox: the more it reacts to danger, the more it risks being noticed.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Ultra Moon specifies that Bounsweet's spinning sepals often fail against a bird Pokémon. Pokémon Shield describes a second counterproductive reaction: the sweet sweat released during an attack attracts other opponents instead of repelling them.
