CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Tapu Fini guards Poni Island and controls water. It draws energy from ocean currents and hides deep in mist. This fog can disorient an opponent enough to make it attack allies. Accounts credit it with very pure water capable of washing away impurities. Its protective status does not make an encounter safe: the Pokédex warns that it can strike violently at those who come too close.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Moon reports Tapu Fini's purifying water as a story. Pokémon Sun, by contrast, describes its mist used to confuse enemies. Water and fog therefore contribute to its guardian reputation as much as to its defenses.
