CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Omastar held prey with its tentacles before using fangs capable of crushing rock. Its large shell protected it but also slowed it during hunts. The Pokédex suggests this weight may have contributed to the species' disappearance; it does not present it as a proven cause. This fossil thus tells of an ancient compromise between armor and mobility in a world where reaching prey remained essential.

Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Sword proposes the weight of Omastar's shell as a possible explanation for its extinction. Pokémon Shield notes that its fangs reach only prey seized by its tentacles. Its powerful bite therefore depended on an approach that its weight could slow.
