CARDEX BACKGROUND

The Pokémon’s story

Mawile first draws attention with its docile face. That first impression can distract from the enormous jaw behind its head, which it uses when an opponent lets down its guard. Its apparent gentleness is part of its strategy. With this Pokémon, understanding the entire silhouette completely changes the encounter: what seemed welcoming is preparing an attack just when the other feels safe.

A detail worth noticing

Mawile's huge jaws do not come from a second head. Pokémon Ruby explains that they are transformed steel horns. Their mouth-like appearance therefore conceals an anatomical origin different from what their function might suggest.
