Ruf der Legenden / #21/95
Printed language: German · Pokémon
CARDEX BACKGROUND
Smeargle leaves signs behind that announce its passage and mark its territory. Fluid produced at the tip of its tail lets it paint on nearby surfaces. In cities where many live, walls become covered in marks. The landscape thus becomes a collection of messages, visible long after their authors have left.
Background on the species in the video games; its forms and card versions may have appeared later. The color Smeargle leaves also depends on what it feels. Pokémon Ultra Sun notes that the intensity of its secretions' hue varies with its emotions. Its marks can therefore reflect more than the act of defining a territory.
Quoted source text is retained in the card’s printed language so this exact printing can be identified. The CarDex background above is translated into English.
