The Pokémon’s story

Nidoqueen has a muscular body covered in very hard scales. It can charge an opponent to drive it away, but the Pokédex mainly presents it as a protector of its young. Its armor absorbs attacks aimed at the family. It can even settle the young between the spines on its back to calm them without releasing poison. Its power is therefore more than a weapon: it also forms a mobile refuge for those it raises.

A detail worth noticing

Pokémon Shield describes the young protected by Nidoqueen sitting safely between its dorsal spines, which do not release poison then. Pokémon Sword emphasizes that its armor primarily defends the young. Formidable protection can therefore become a gentle shelter.
